Civil Service openings are advertised online; however, interested candidates should test for any EIU Civil Service classification at any time. Candidates may test for a classification even if a position is not yet vacant. Your scores will be kept on file. The State Universities Civil Service System requires a probationary period of no less than six months and no longer than twelve months for all Civil Service new hires and promotional hires. During this period you are observed and evaluated for effective job performance.
