Sidney Abrams, Health Administration Major, and Business Administration and Workplace Wellness Minor I became an RA because of the excellent work my former RA was doing. They made the RA position seem engaging and valuable. Once I got the position, being an RA proved to be much more. I account my role as an RA for drastically improving my communication skills, leadership skills, and multitasking abilities. This role has opened up so many doors for me and presented me with countless networking opportunities. Building lifelong relationships with my fellow RA’s, residents, and pro-staff members is one of my favorite parts of the job. I love how hands-on, transparent, and energetic the pro staff members are! I know from experience that if I am in need that they will assist me or point me towards a resource that can. I also love building floor communities. Being there to see the early stages of lifelong friendships develop is remarkable. As semesters pass, viewing the growth taking place in residents personally, academically, and professionally is an experience like no other. |

Keonee Lesley, Accounting Major, and Management Minor I applied to be an RA as a freshman because I felt that it would play a major role in getting more involved on campus and as an additional way to meet new people. The best part of being an RA is the relationships you develop, not only with the residents but with your staff as well! I have definitely made some great friends from taking on the position. |

Dawson Sullens, Political Science, and Sociology Major I applied to be an RA because I had a great first year on campus and Eastern Illinois University became a second home for me. I wanted to become an RA so I could help other people feel at home at EIU and I felt that working as an RA would be the best way for me to do that. My favorite part of being a Resident Assistant is the opportunity to meet all sorts of people from all walks of life and hopefully impact their lives for the better. |
