You won't find yourself pushing paper or having to rely on someone else to manage the community you are developing. EIU takes a holistic approach to residential life. You are responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of your learning community. Not only will you find yourself leading the charge for student development, but you will also oversee facilities management, staff supervision, leadership development, student conduct, housing assignments, crisis intervention, social justice education, staff recruitment, staff training, and academic support services. Simply put, our goal at EIU is for you to possess an amazing resume before you move on to other professional opportunities.
EIU's Residential Life program is also committed to your professional development. We encourage participation in campus committees, workshops, and participation in local, state, regional, and national professional associations such as GLACUHO, NASPA, ACUHO-I, and ACPA.
We ask each staff member to complete their own professional development plan at the beginning of each year and we use your plan so that we can assist in providing you with the opportunities and needs that are tailored to you!
